N900 Price Nosedives to USD 479.99!

The N900 saga refuses to conclude! First came the undue delay in releasing the handset, which was promptly followed by an official launch but handsets mysteriously missing from retailer shelves, which continues to be the case even today after more than 100 h0urs of the official US launch of N900.

While the previous twists in the N900 tale have been nothing but disappointing for N900 fans, the latest twist promises to bring smiles to hordes of N900 fans in the US: Amazon US has now dropped the price of N900 to USD 479.99, making it the second most cheapest deal for N900 after that ephemeral deal from Dell for USD 441.99. While Nokia continues to price the N900 at USD 649, Amazon is giving a straight discount of USD 119.01 (18%) and a USD 50 mail in rebate, bringing down the price of N900 to USD 479.99. Now only if they would announce an estimated shipping date!

The N900 is not yet launched and its already taking the center-stage of a high octane drama. First came the pre-orders by Nokia and Amazon, which were promptly followed by unforeseen delays, and then Newegg came up with a definite shipping date for the device, attracting hordes of fans for the pre-order. Joining the bandwagon are the web’s largest retailers- Dell and Amazon, which may not have a definite shipping date at their disposal but their price is something you don’t wanna miss out on.

As of this very moment, Dell Smart Business is retailing the N900 at USD 519 and that includes shipping, which we gotta say is the sweetest deal we can expect from any retailer for a genuine N900. The deal was infact sweeter a couple of hours ago, when Dell stopped accepting the 15% discount on coupon code “9PD$33PJFL5P21″ . That made the retail price for N900 USD 442! (We gotta screenshot to prove) As one might expect, the avalanche of N900 fans pre-booking the N900 under this offer, forced Dell to terminate the offer in a little over 3-4 hours after the word got out.

Not to be left behind in the rat race, Amazon decided to pitch in as well by reducing their retail price by as much as 14%, pushing the N900 retail price to USD 559, including free shipping. While this price is around USD 40 dearer than the present Dell deal, fans who have earlier pre-booked the device at Amazon for the listed price of USD 649 should be able to avail the price drop.

In case you were wondering, the reason behind the sudden wave of interest in N900 and that too in a country like US which hasn’t been too kind to Nokia’s previous smartphones, we gotta tell you that the N900 has added one more feather to its gleaming cap after being voted the smartphone of the year by the readers of the Mobil magazine in Sweden. Now we know why the Dell discount coupon got pulled before we could even read about its existence.

Anyway if you happen to be in the US, waste no time and just pre-book your N900 now for we don’t know when Dell may pull the plug off this one!

Looks like the folks at Nokia have finally let the cat out of the bag as the blogosphere is rife with US and UK launch dates for the first Maemo 5 powered device. Rumour has it that the N900 will be launched on November 14th in the US and on November 16th in the UK. Thats like just a week away!

After having delayed the launch on N900 from October to a previously unknown date, Nokia faced a lot of criticism from market pundits and Maemo fans alike. With the holiday season coming up and the competition gearing up with product launches in the same genre, it was hightime Nokia released their flagship handset. Responding to the market sentiments, Nokia seem to have finally decided on the shipping date for its N900, or atleast Newegg and Omia have some inside infoon the Nokia N900 price, which the world is largely oblivious to.

The deals in the UK look more attractive with both Orange and O2 (other carriers may also join the N900 bandwagon soon) offering some good deals on contract basis. As with any high end Nokia device in the US, N900 is again available contract free and the 89 dollar discount from Newegg should convince the skeptics to take the plunge into what promises to take mobile computing/communications to higher levels.
