Fennec Beta 4 Demoed on N900

Mozilla Fennec for Mobile N900Mozilla have just released the beta 4 version of Fennec, better known as Firefox for Mobile for the upcoming Maemo platform. N900 being the sole device in this platform was the obvious choice for demo and guess what, Jay Sullivan, the VP of mobile browser division of Mozilla, himself has demoed the browser very much on a N900.The latest mobile browser from Mozilla is one of the most revolutionary applications for mobile platforms. Being based on the latest Firefox engine (the same that powers the yet to be released Firefox 3.6), the mobile browser moves a step closer to the capabilities of desktop browsers. Infact the present version of the browser is the first mobile browser to incorporate support for plugins and add-ons.

Ain’t that Weave sync cool? Being an avid fan of weave sync myself, I just can’t wait to get this on my mobile, wait I need to first get an Nokia N900 for that!

While Firefox seem to have hit the bull’s eye with navigation options within the browser, the zoom in and zoom out options are a bit confusing (atleast from what we see in the video above). Double tap to zoom in once, double tap to zoom in again and then double tap to zoom out! How does the browser respond to the second double tap? Does it zoom in further or zoom out? Comments are welcome!
