Now that N900 has started shipping, I thought it was time to start scouting the web for N900 apps, so that I know exactly what to do when my device arrives at my doorstep (which am hoping is pretty soon!)
From my previous experiences with a Nokia device, I headed straight to the ovi store (the mecca of apps for Nokia devices) to see if I can find any apps for the N900 but to my utter disappointment the Maemo version of the store is not yet live, so there goes the best source for apps. Then, I turned to the omniscient, the GOOGLE and guess what I discovered? Just the apps I was looking for! Details and short video after the break.
The MaemoUI Team has just uploaded a new video clip on YouTube highlighting the TV out option of the N900. While we did cover this in our video gigs post, where in we showed how to game on the big screen along with a screenshot of enterprising chap who beamed live soccer match on the big screen using his N900, the latest video by Maemo UI Team shows how easy it is to connect the N900 to a TV and sharing videos on flickR.
Just connect the damn cable (which is a part of the standard box package), thats it? Apparently it’s as simple as that! While we can think of a ton of different uses of this feature, do let us know what would you dig this feature for.
The Mozilla mobile team has released the beta 5 version of their upcoming Firefox mobile browser exclusively for the Maemo platform. The latest beta vesion is available for Nokia N810 and N900 Internet tablets running on the Maemo 5 OS.
The latest beta version comes after the encouraging feedback the Mozilla mobile team led by Fearless Leader, Jay Sullivan have been getting after the beta 4 version of the browser was made public, early this month. Yeah, that makes the latest version the second beta to have surfaced in less than a fortnight. After taking the world by storm with the official announcementof N900 shipping worldwide (except Asia), Nokia is now teasing us again with support videosfor the N900. As many as seven support videos have surfaced on YouTube in the last 24 hours, and ofcourse the entire N900 community is excited!
The support videos are short video tours explaining some of the simple tasks on the N900, a majority of which we have already seen in action, thanks to the pre-production units of N900, on which the N900 fans have been drooling upon till now. However, we won’t stop you from getting an eyeful of N900 from these latest videos and infact I have pulled up all of these over here to save you guys the effort of searching through YouTube.
Yeah guys, you read it right, after months of delays, the Nokia has started shipping the N900 in selected regions. Nokia Conversations made the formal announcement earlier today and the entire N900 community has been bubbling with renewed interest in the first Maemo 5 device.
Looks like the earlier rumor we covered, hinting on November 14th and 16th as the launch dates in the US and UK, were true (albeit marginally) after all. The Nokia Conversations post says that the device has started shipping to Russia, Middle East, Europe and North America with no word on its availability in other regions.

As of this very moment, Dell Smart Business is retailing the N900 at USD 519 and that includes shipping, which we gotta say is the sweetest deal we can expect from any retailer for a genuine N900. The deal was infact sweeter a couple of hours ago, when Dell stopped accepting the 15% discount on coupon code “9PD$33PJFL5P21″ . That made the retail price for N900 USD 442! (We gotta screenshot to prove) As one might expect, the avalanche of N900 fans pre-booking the N900 under this offer, forced Dell to terminate the offer in a little over 3-4 hours after the word got out.
