The N900 is not yet launched and its already taking the center-stage of a high octane drama. First came the pre-orders by Nokia and Amazon, which were promptly followed by unforeseen delays, and then Newegg came up with a definite shipping date for the device, attracting hordes of fans for the pre-order. Joining the bandwagon are the web’s largest retailers- Dell and Amazon, which may not have a definite shipping date at their disposal but their price is something you don’t wanna miss out on.
As of this very moment, Dell Smart Business is retailing the N900 at USD 519 and that includes shipping, which we gotta say is the sweetest deal we can expect from any retailer for a genuine N900. The deal was infact sweeter a couple of hours ago, when Dell stopped accepting the 15% discount on coupon code “9PD$33PJFL5P21″ . That made the retail price for N900 USD 442! (We gotta screenshot to prove) As one might expect, the avalanche of N900 fans pre-booking the N900 under this offer, forced Dell to terminate the offer in a little over 3-4 hours after the word got out.
Looks like the folks at Nokia have finally let the cat out of the bag as the blogosphere is rife with US and UK launch dates for the first Maemo 5 powered device. Rumour has it that the N900 will be launched on November 14th in the US and on November 16th in the UK. Thats like just a week away!
Love that N900, but wondering if you would be able to afford that flagship Nokia device, as and when its launched? How about getting it for free? Ofcourse there is no free lunch and you gotta show to the world how badly you miss N900 in the “Offline as it happens” contest being hosted online by Nokia Conversations.
Mozilla have just released the beta 4 version of Fennec, better known as Firefox for Mobile for the upcoming Maemo platform. N900 being the sole device in this platform was the obvious choice for demo and guess what, Jay Sullivan, the VP of mobile browser division of Mozilla, himself has demoed the browser very much on a N900.The latest mobile browser from Mozilla is one of the most revolutionary applications for mobile platforms. Being based on the latest Firefox engine (the same that powers the yet to be released Firefox 3.6), the mobile browser moves a step closer to the capabilities of desktop browsers. Infact the present version of the browser is the first mobile browser to incorporate support for plugins and add-ons.
Who says you gotta be a music artist to perform gigs? The latest gadget to hit the town, the Nokia N900 is nothing short of a rockstar when it comes to its entertainment capabilities, and guess what, it has a couple of gigs of its own! Music and Video capabilities aside, the TV out port of this wonder gadget is being maxed out by the handful of reviewers, who have been fortunate enough to get their hands on a preview set.
Sorry to break this to all those who are expecting the release of the highly anticipated Nokia N900 phone. According to Peter Schneider, head of Maemo marketing, Nokia has decided that it is moving the release of their newest handset from end of October to anytime in November 2009.
